Ingredients In A Successful System
By Grandmaster Bob Chaney
When the system provides and enables every student the same opportunity to succeed the system will succeed.
Successful systems allow and provide short term and ultimately longterm realistic, achievable goals that are attainable by the average student. They shift the focus from seemingly impossible goals to short term achievable goals, which build confidence, self-esteem and provide the encouragement necessary for long term successes.
If there is too much emphasis placed on producing fighters it sets unrealistic unachievable goals that or out of reach of the average student looking for fitness, weight loss, functional self-defense, art form or a fun and exciting way to get into shape and will instead only cater to the minority of the population and will “with in mere weeks” drive out the majority of the students that provide financial stability and success of a studio.
The value of fighters lay in their ability to authenticate the technical proficiency and functionality of the instruction provided by a studio. They are essentially endorsers of the system as is Michael Jordan to Nike.
The students that provide the foundation and contribute the most to the financial success of any studio are the young children, the moms and pops and the dedicated students that train for years because of their dedication and pure love of the martial arts. Those students have always been the back bone of the martial arts and have always proven to be the most loyal and trust worthy.
When the system provides and allows for the developmentally challenged, elderly, un-athletic and the average youth or adult to accomplish and be rewarded with feelings of success your studio will be just as successful.
